Extreme 4 Wheelin'
Camp Gruber ORV Park, July 9th 2005

Welcome to Camp Gruber ORV Park.  This is our first official club run to this area.  Located just a few miles South of Muskogee, it's only about an hours drive from Tulsa.

Right off the parking lot is a whole series of ledges to warm up on.

J.C. takes a shot at them next.
Obviously he does not have any takers to ride in the suicide seats just yet.

Tim makes easy work out of these in the Rokit buggy.

Next Norm works on the wall.

He has a little difficulty with the upper portion resulting in the tranny getting a little warm.

Ok, it's time for some trail rides!

This is a cool little creek bed.  Challenging, but not too abusive.

Now, here's a mug shot for ya...
He's our mascot for the day.

I wonder how the ride in the rumble seat is.  J.C. is certainly NOT taking it easy on that clutch!

Everyone made it out and is gathered around ready to start the next trail.

Larry is checking out his new body modifications to the Sami.  Of course he also has to point out the new 'scratch' on the Rubicon to Earl.

Daniel, I think you are going the wrong way...

Off to the next challenge and Kay is piloting the rubi down the hill....
(ahh the thumbnail is too small, so you need to click on the middle picture to get the full effect..)

Oops, I think she may have hit that ledge just a little too hard for Earl..

It looks like J.C.'s passengers are starting to get into the swing of things...

From here, we took a break for lunch.  After lunch we moved over to another area of trails and ran into the MudBug gang stuck on the side of a hill.   Bill had broken the rear output off his transfer case trying to get the immobile Yellow CJ out of the ravine.

Norm pulls down and assists Bill up the hill.

However, the CJ is gonna be a bit more challenging.
He's broken both drive shafts, so he's a dead drag.

Norm hooks up and starts pulling.  Not an easy job, but he's making progress until......

POW.
I think the pictures speak for themselves...

Tim pulls into position to help him up the hill as Norm preps for repairs.

So, how many supervisors does it take to weld an axle back in position?

Ahh the magic of the web.  Next we see the group moving on to the scenic overlook, just as if it took no time at all.....  But, we'll leave the long drawn-out details of the repair saga for stories to be told at the next club meeting....

It is a pretty awesome view of the river...

After making our way around the overlook trail, a couple of us break off to run the creak bed trail.  Not too extreme, but certainly not for those aren't fully locked and cherish their body work...

Again, Hamid is our fearless leader for this trail.

Followed by Tim,

And myself, as I crawl my way up the last little waterfall.

Again, at this point we skip over another few hours spent doing trail repairs.  Mostly because both Norm and myself were preoccupied.  Again, we'll leave that story for the next meeting....

Finally, back at the parking lot.  Several of the guys take one more shot at the rock walls....

This Xtra long CJ5 takes a shot at the 'crack'.
It's a valiant attempt, but no success on this day..

Here's a quick map of the trails we ran this day.  The area is not extremely large, but it was quite the fun and close place to go play!   I'm sure we'll have more trips to come.

Thanks to everyone that came out, and special thanks to Hamid for scouting out the area and playing leader for the day!
